teaching a love of dance to over 200 students every week

Since 2003, we've forged a learning family of over 200 pupils every week all across London. Through a disciplined combination of modern, street, stage and freestyle dance, we  give our students an eclectic but well-grounded knowledge of dance. Our pupils often start as absolute beginners, but leave us with a deep-seated love of movement and years of happy memories.

"You’re a wonderful teacher.  We love how you teach and if we could, we would come to J.K. every day! " JK Pupil (Greenwich)

Dance is 100% love, 50% determination and 50% performance. Our pupils have earned the privilege of performing at shows on the West End, the Mayor's Ceremony for Young Gifted Children, Selhurst Park, the Brit Oval and more. We welcome everyone onto our dance floor, from absolute beginners  to those seeking to train as professional dancers. Our students thrive, with increased self-esteem, more friends and confidence in moving their bodies. Join us today to see for yourself.

"Thank you for inspiring our daughter and leading her into dance.  It's her passion and has been fundamental to her self-esteem and her blossoming into a fun and happy person."  Julia (Parent , Ashmount Primary)

We believe in recognising and rewarding success, and striving for excellence whether our pupils are new to dance or old hands. JK Dance takes part in accredited exams with the British Association of Teachers of Dance every year, giving the students the opportunity for personal achievement. These exams allow our students to gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, but we encourage commitment and effort in all our children. Past pupils have thrived on this approach, graduating to performances on ITV's Got To Dance, West End productions and more.

"What I loved most is that the children all looked like they were having such a great time. Everyone looked so joyful." Joanne (Parent)

Jessica Hewitson

Founder and lead instructor of the J.K. Dance Academy, Jessica has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She is an associate member of the British Association of Teachers of Dance, and has a Diploma in Dance and Choreography. Jessica has been teaching for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience and expertise to draw on. Her comprehensive skill-set ranges from ballet and contemporary to tap, freestyle, modern, stage and street dance. Jessica has a natural affinity with both shy and expressive children and her thoughtful approach can help harness a pupil’s energy and ability to great effect. Never far from a smile, and always bringing maximum energy to her classes, Jessica’s lessons are fast-paced and fun-filled!

Beverly Jordan

One of J.K.’s most senior instructors, Bev brings 20 years of teaching experience to the floor and has an impressive range of dance training to draw on. She is an associate member of the British Association of Teachers of Dance, and has a Diploma in Dance specifically for the disciplines of tap, stage and freestyle. Bev has been teaching at the J.K. Dance Academy since 2009 and brings incredible choreography and attention to detail. She is highly skilled at working with pupils with different abilities, and is especially good at working closely with pupils who may struggle in a large group environment. Her ability to create focused, one-to-one tuition opportunities within a larger group has been integral to the success and happiness of J.K. Dance and all its pupils.

Poppy Cumming-Spain

Poppy is a proud J.K. Dance Academy alumnus. Having joined as a pupil when she was 13 years old, she has risen through the school, excelling in all her B.A.T.D. exams. She was one of the first ever J.K. pupils to be short-listed for a scholarship from the examining board, and was chosen to represent herself and the whole of J.K. in the Freestyle Finals in Glasgow that year. With such a natural talent, the next step was to begin her training within us to become a teacher, learning under Jessica's experienced tuition. Years later, Poppy’s modern approach and cutting-edge choreography has become a vital part of J.K. Dance.

The J.K. Dance Academy encourages excellence, but happiness matters most, and children of all abilities are welcome on our dance floor.
